ATTENDANCE

Students are expected to attend each scheduled week (holidays/communicated time off not included).

There will be no refunds given if a student misses a lesson regardless of the situation, but I do my best to provide a make up lesson for situations that are unavoidable or unforeseen (sickness/emergencies). Make-ups for missed lessons with little to no communication are not guaranteed.

I request that a minimum of 24 hours notice be given for known circumstances. Any lessons missed by me due to unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled as soon as possible. My studio operates at full capacity, and lesson times cannot be extended for students who arrive late. For arrivals later than 10 minutes past the scheduled start time, the lesson that day will be forfeited.

Travel or Summer Vacation: Students will be charged the monthly tuition regardless of the number of lessons taken in that month. Students will still be billed even if taking a break or are traveling. The student’s spot will be reserved until they return. Make ups are determined by my availability to do so.

PRACTICE/PERFORMANCE

Regular home practice is essential for the success of the student. I recommend at least 5 days of practice each week. Short, daily practice sessions are more effective than one or two long sessions per week.

An optional student recital is determined by the volume of students who have opted in and the ability to gather in a large group. The recital takes place in Seattle in late spring/early summer.

REQUIREMENTS

All piano students must have a piano or digital piano for home practice. The quality of the student’s home instrument plays a significant role in their potential for success.

Acoustic pianos should be tuned at least once a year and kept in working order. For digital pianos, it is worth the investment for a full-size keyboard (88-keys) with weighted, touch-sensitive keys and sustain pedal.

Books and other practice materials must be available to the student each week. Students purchase their own method books and music on occasion throughout the year.  Books may be purchased from the student’s preferred source.

BILLING

Billing is submitted to the student prior to the first week of each month with a reminder of current tuition charges, as well as any additional material or event fees. Payment is due by the last day of the month. Payments can be remitted by way of Venmo, PayPal, Zelle or Apple Pay.

Please be financially responsible and prompt. It is uncomfortable for everyone to have to track down payment.

Additional event fees may be required for student requested festivals, competitions and other performance events.

TERMINATION

I ask for at least 30 days notice of plans to withdraw from lessons. Failure to attend lessons does not qualify as notification. If a student has 2 consecutive no shows with no notice, I will terminate the student’s lessons, and I will release their spot in the schedule. The student will not be refunded the month’s payment. Students who terminate lessons at any time will forfeit any unused reschedules or make-up lessons.
